About Recipe

Aloo Paratha is one of the most popular type of paratha in India, I make it in two different ways, first one is simple aloo paratha and second one is masala aloo partha. Both of them are very testy and yummy.

Here I am presenting simple aloo paratha, which is very easy to make, you can eat it either as breakfast or as lunch/dinner, with chutney or pickle or even with curd.

So try this recipe and enjoy with your friends and family

Preparation Time – 20 Mins

Cooking time – 30 Mins

Cuisine – Punjabi, Indian

For aloo or potato stuffing

Potato – 4 boiled and mashed

Ginger-garlic Paste – 1 tsp

Red Chilly pwdr – ½ tsp

Green Chilly – 1 finely chopped

Amchur/ Dry Mango pwdr – ½ tsp

Coriander leaves – 3 tsp finely chopped

Ghee/oil for roasting paratha

For the dough

Whole wheat floor or aata – 2 cups

Cumin seeds – ½ tsp

Ghee – 1- 2 tsp

For preparation of dough

  1. In a big bowl or pan, take whole wheat floor, and make a well in the center
  2. Add salt, ghee and cumin seeds and make the dough
  3. Leave this for 15 to 20 minutes, then again mash it with hands, this will make the dough softer (if need, wet your hand with water/ ghee)

For the stuffing

  1. Boil the potato, peel them and mash it with potato masher or with hand
  2. Now add ginger-garlic, red chilly pwdr, chopped green chilly, chopped coriander leaves, amchur and salt
  3. Mix them nicely, check the taste of stuffing and add chilly/ salt if required, keep the stuffing aside

For rolling paratha

  1. Take a medium ball of dough, roll & flatten it
  2. Dust it with some floor and make a circle of about 5 inch with fingers
  3. Place 1 ½ – 2 tsp of aloo stuffing in the center and cover the stuffing with remaining dough of the circle
  4. Flatten it again and sprinkle some dusting floor and roll this partha with rolling pin as you do for normal chapati or paratha

Rosting Paratha

  1. On a hot tawa, placed the paratha (tawa should be hot)
  2. When the base is partially cooked, flip the paratha
  3. Spread some ghee on the partially cooked paratha and on the sides as well
  4. Flip it again and spread some ghee on the other side as well
  5. If you have paratha presser, press the partha to make it crispy or you can use flat spatula
  6. Cook both the sides nicely

This is the recipe of making simple aloo paratha, serve it hot with mint chutney, pickle and curd dip, enjoy it with your friends and family, we will be back with Masala Aloo Paratha next time.

  1. Cook the paratha in hot tawa or it will become hard and rubbery
  2. Use thick tawa, so that paratha will get cooked from inside
  3. If you dont want to use ginger-garlic, you can use garam masala as well
