LOBIA/BLACK EYED BEANS CURRY
Lobia or small kidney beans curry is a healthy and testy dish. This recipe is very simple to make, even beginners can cook this. This recipe goes well with any type of bread or rice. In this I have used punjabi garam masala but u can use any type of curry masala.
Soaking time – 4-5 hours
Cooking time – 35 mins
Preparation time -5- 7 mins

Measurement cup used 1 cup = 220 ml
Lobia – 1/2 cup
Onion – 2 medium (finely chopped)
Ginger – 1 inch (crushed or paste)
Garlic – 4 no (crushed or paste)
Cumin/jeera – ½ teas
Tomato – 1 (make paste)
Green chilly – 1 (chopped)
Red chilly powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 -2 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Garam masala – ½ to 1 tsp
Water – 3-4 cups
Soak the lobia for 4 to 5 hours or over night in enough water.
In a cooker take soaked lobia ,1 ½ cup of water,1/4 teas turmeric and salt, boil it for boiling after 1 whistle keep the flame low for 5-7 mins and then switch it off. (some time cooking time depend upon lobia’s quality)
Drain it and remove the boiled water. keep aside.
Heat oil in a kadai add cumin seeds, let crackle.
Add finely chopped onion and green chili, saute till onion gets translucent.
Add ginger and garlic, crush or paste.
Stir till raw smell goes off.
Add red chili, turmeric and coriander powder, stir for 4-5 seconds.
Add tomato puree, saute and stir till oil separates from the sides.
Add boiled and drained lobia.
Add 1 -1 1/2 cups of water.
Keep the flame over high and bring it to boil.
Now simmer the flame add garam masala and salt.
Put the lid and cook lobia for 5-7 mins over simmer.
After 5-7 mins open the lid and add chopped fresh coriander leaves , turn off the flame.
Your gravy is ready, this can be served hot with rice or chapati
Soak lobia for 4 to 5 hours in water
Pressure cook it by adding water and salt (for pressure cooking after 1 whistle cook lobia over simmer for 5-7 mins)
After boiling drain it
Heat oil and add cumin seeds, let it crackle nicely
Add finely chopped onion and green chili, fry till translucent
Add ginger and garlic (crushed or paste)
Add red chili, coriander and turmeric powder, stir for 4-5 seconds
add tomato paste
Saute till oil separates
Add boiled lobia
Add 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups of water
Bring it to boil
Add garam masala
Cover with the lid and cook over simmer for 5-7 mins
After 7 mins open the lid add fresh coriander leaves and turn off the flame
