Matar Mushroom Masala

Mater and mushroom goes well with many veggies. Today I am sharing matar mushroom masala cooked in spicy onion – tomato gravy richen with malai. Served with chapati, paratha, naan and pulao. In winter season I like to make mushroom with matar in this way. So lets see who to make matar – mushroom masala.

Cuisine – north indian
Serve – 2-3
Mushroom – 1 packet or 200 g (Thick slice cut)
Matar/green peas – ½ cup
Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
Ginger-garlic – 1 tsp to 1 ½ tsp (crushed or paste)
Tomato – 1-2 medium (finely chopped)
Jeera /cumin – ½ tsp
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric – ½ tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
Malai /cream – 2 tsp OR cashew paste – 2 tsp
Kasuri methi /dry fenugreek leaves – 1 tsp
Salt – as per taste
Oil – 2 tbsp
Water – 2 tbsp
Fresh coriander – for garnishing
Heat oil in a pan, add cumin/jeera let it crackle.
Add finely chopped onion, saute till translucent.
Now add ginger-garlic (paste or crushed), fry till the raw smell goes.
Now add the spice powder- red chili, turmeric and coriander powder, fry for few seconds.
Now add finely chopped tomato and salt, saute till tomato get bit soft.
Add malai/cream OR cashew paste, saute for few seconds.
Now add mushroom and matar, mix well. Cover the pan with the lid and cook for 3-4 mins in low-medium
flame. Add garam masala and 2 to 3 tbsp of water (adding water in optional). Cook for a minute.
Garnish with Fresh coriander leaves.
Matar – mushroom masala is ready, serve hot with naan, paratha or chapati.
Adding water is optional.
You can use frozen peas too.
Add onion saute till translucent
Add ginger-garlic, saute till raw smell goes
Add red chilly, coriander and turmeric powder, saute for few seconds
Add tomato and green chili
Saute till tomato gets soft
Add malai or cashew paste, mix well
Cover with the lid and cook for 3-4 mins on low – medium flame
Add kasuri methi
Add little water
Again cover with the lid and cook for a minute
add coriander leaves, mix well
Matar-Mushroom masala is ready
