Instant Carrot Halwa/Gajar ka Halwa (Made with milk powder)

Gajar/carrot – 3 cups or 500 g (grated)

Sugar – ½ cup Or as needed

Ghee – 2 tbsp

Milk – 1 cup

Milk powder – 3-4 tbsp

Raisins/kishmish – 8-9

Cashew nuts – 8-10 (broken into pieces)

Cardamon powder – ½ tsp



Peel and wash the carrots. Grate them.

Medium heat ghee in a pan or kadai.

Place the grated carrot to the kadai.

Fry carrot with ghee for a minute.

Add milk, cook carrot on low-medium heat till milk reduces ¾ . stir often.

Add sugar and milk powder, stir well. After some time sugar will melt.

Add broken cashew nuts and raisins.

Cook this mix at low-medium flame till its semi dry or dry. Stir occasionally.

Add cardamon powder, mix well. And switch off the flame.

Carrot halwa is ready serve hot or after cooling.


If you do not have milk just add 3 tbsp of more milk powder.


Step by step method with pictures



Wash and peel the carrots


Grate them


Heat ghee


Place grated carrots, fry them for a minute


Add milk


Cook carrot over medium heat till milk reduces 3/4, stir often


Add sugar and milk powder, mix well


Add cashew and raisin, cook till the mix gets semi dry or dry


When the mix is dry or semi dry add cardamon powder, mix


Carrot Halwa Ready
