Ganth Gobhi –Matar ki Subzi/Kohlrabi and Green Peas Subzi

About Recipe

One more taste and healthy Chhattisgarhi subzi ganth gobhi – matar ki subzi. Which is cooked in onion, tomato and green chutney gravy. This subzi goes well with rice and chapati.

Ingredients

Ganth gobhi/Kohlrabi (better bye small one ) – 300 g or 4 medium (cut into small cubes)

Matar/ green peas – ½ cup

Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)

Garlic – 5-6 (crushed)

Tomato – 2 medium (chopped)

Cumin – ½ tsp

Red chilly powder – ½ tsp (adjust accordingly)

Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Garam masala – ½ to 1 tsp

Salt – as per taste

Oil – 2-3 tbsp

Water – 1 to 1 ½ cup

Coriander leaves – for garnishing (chopped)

For making green chutney

Coriander leaves – 3-4 tbsp

Green chilly – 2

Water – 1 tbsp

 

Method

Rinse, peel and cut (into cubes) the ganth gobhi. Keep aside.

In a grinder take ingredients under ‘ for making green chutney ‘ and grind nicely. Keep aside.

Heat oil add cumin and let splutter.

Add onion, saute till light brown.

Add crushed garlic, fry for few seconds.

Add Ganth gobhi and matar, stir and saute for 2 min over medium flame.

Add red chilly, turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder. Stir well.

Add chopped tomato and salt, saute till tomato gets mushy.

Add 1 or 1 ½ cup of water, bring them to boil.

Add the green chutney.

Put lid and cook subzi till ganth gobhi and matar get cooked.

(if you are in hurry give 1-2 whistle in pressure cooker)

When veggies get cooked add fresh coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

Serve with chapati or rice.

Tips

If your ganth gobhi is hard better cook in pressure cooker for 2-3 whistle.
