Tandoori mushroom masala

Mushroom – 200 g or 12-15 (cut into tow parts)

Capsicum/shimlamirch – 1 small (cut into square)

Onion – 1 small (cut into cubes)

Cumin/jeera – ½ tsp

Onion – 2 medium (finely chopped)

Green chili – 1 finely chopped

Ginger – 1 inch (paste or crused)

Garlic clove – 5-6 (paste or crused) or you can use ginger – garlic paste

Tomato – 1 big (make paste)

Kasuri methi – 1 tsp

Tandoori masala powder – 1 tbsp + ½ tsp

Red chili powder – ½ to 1 tsp

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

Garam masala powder – ½ tsp

Curd – 2 tbsp

Oil – 2 tbsp

Butter – 2 tsp

Water – ½ cup

Salt – as per taste


Rinse mushroom nicely and cut them into two parts.

Rinse capsicum, remove inner part and cut into the square shape.

Cut onion into cubes.

In a bowl take mushroom, capsicum and onion.

Add curd and 1 tbsp tandoori masala, mix well.

Heat a iron tava or non- stick tava melt butter and add mushroom, capsicum and onion together.

Saute them over high flame for 3-4 minutes, stir in between. Keep the flame at high so that veggies will be smoky.

After 3-4 minutes take them out and keep aside.

Heat oil in a kadai and add cumin, let it splutter.

Add finely chopped onion and green chili, saute till onion turn translucent.

Add ginger and garlic, fry till raw smell goes off.

Add tandoori masala, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder. Stir for 4-5 seconds.

Add tomato paste and kasuri methi, fry till oil saprets from masala.

Now add mushroom, capsicum and onion.

Add water and salt too.

Cook them for 2 minute over low- medium flame.

Add chopped coriander leaves, stir and turn off the flame.



To give more richness add cream or malai about 1 tbsp.

In Short



Rinse mushroom and devoid into two parts


Cut capsicum into square shape and cut cut onion into cubes


Add tandoori masala and curd


Mix well


Melt butter in a pan or tava


Place veggies


Saute them over high flame for 3-4 mins, stir in between


Keep aside


Heat oil add cumin


Add green chili and onion, saute till transelusent


Add ginger and garlic, saute till raw smell goes of


Add red chili, turmeric, coriander, garam masala and tandoori masala, fry for few seconds


Add tomato paste


Add kasuri methi


Add veggies


Add water and bring it to boil


Add salt and cook for 2-3 mins over simmer


Add chopped coriander, mix well and turn off the flame


Tandoori mushroom masala is ready


Serve hot
