Broken Wheat Daliya (easy and healthy)

Mesurement cup used, 1 cup = 220 ml

Broken Wheat daliya – ¾ cup

Matar/green peas – 2-3 tbsp (to make more healthy add carrot, capsicum, cauliflower, beans and cabbage)

Potato – 1 small to medium (cut into small cubes)

Cumin/jeera – ½ tsp

Mustard – ½ tsp

Green chili – 1 chopped

Curry leaves – 6-7

Onion – 1 small to medium (chopped)

Tomato – 1-2 medium (chopped)

Red chili powder – ¼ to ½ tsp

Turmeric – ½ tsp

Water – 2 + 1/4 cups (or adjust according you)

Oil – 2 tbsp

Salt – as per taste

Fresh coriander leaves – 2-3 tbsp


Rinse daliya 3-4 times with water and soak it for 10 – 15 mins.

By the time chop onion, potato, green chili and tomato.

In a pressure cooker heat oil and add mustard seeds and cumin, let them splutter.

Add onion, potato green chili and curry leaves, saute and stir for 2 min over medium flame.

Add matar and tomato, saute and stir till tomato gets little soft.

Add turmeric and red chili powder, stir once.

Now drain the daliya and place it to the cooker.

Add water, salt and fresh and chopped coriander leaves.

Now pressure cook daliya, for pressure cooking after 1 whistle turn the flame at simmer for 8-10 min after that

turn off the flame.

Let pressure sattle down on it’s own.

Now healthy, tasty and easy wheat daliya is ready, serve hot.

Take daliya


Rinse with water and soak it for 10 – 15 min

Heat oil in cooker, add cumin


Add potato, onion, curry leaves and green chilli, fry it for 2 minute at medium flame


Add tomato and green peas, saute for some time


Add red chilli powder and turmeric, stir once


Add drained daliya


Add water


Add salt


Add chopped coriander and pressure cook it


After pressure cook


Daliya is ready
