Easy Paneer Masala

INGREDIENTS :

 

Measurement cup used 1 cup = 220 ml

 

 Paneer –  200 – 250 g (cut into cubes)

Onion (medium) – 1 (cut into thick slices)

Ripe red tomato (medium) – 4 -5 (cup into thick slices)

Garlic clove – 4-5

Ginger – 1 inch (chopped)

Green chili – 1-2

Kashmiri red chili powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Coriander powder – 1- 1 ½ tsp

Garam masala – 1 tsp

Cumin seeds/jeera – ¼ tsp

Cinnamon stick – ¼ inch

Green cardamom – 1-2

Cashew nuts – 6-7

Kasuri methi /dry fenugreek leaves – 1 tsp

Fresh cream or malai – 1 tbsp (if you do not have any of them add 1 tbsp of milk)

Water – ¼ cup

Salt – as per taste

Oil – 2 tbsp

 

Method ;

 

Heat oil in a thick bottom pan or kadai.

Place onion and saute it over low – medium flame for a minute or till it gets translucent. Be careful onion should not change its color.

Add ginger, garlic and green chili, fry for a minute over medium flame.

Add sliced tomato, cumin, cinnamon stick, green cardamom, Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Stir very well.

Cover this masala with the lid and cook for 1-2 minute over low flame till tomato gets mushy.

Now open the lid and turn off the flame. Wait for some time and let it cool down.

Transfer this masala to the blender and add cashew nuts. Blend this mixture to the very fine and smooth paste without water.

Transfer this paste to the kadai and turn on the flame, add water.

Add kasuri methi and cream or malai or milk to the gravy, stir.

Let gravy cook for 2 minutes over low flame.

Finally add paneer cubes then turn off the flame.

Now paneer masala is ready to serve. Eat it with any indian bread.

Cover with the lid and cook for some time till tomato gets mushy , then turn off the flame

Transfer this masala the blender and add cashew nuts

Blend till smooth without adding water

Transfer this paste to the kadai and turn on the flame then add water

Add kasuri methi, stir well and cook for 2 minute over low flame

Add fresh cream or malai, stir

Finally add paneer and stir then turn off the flame

    Very good..i will try it. Though we make it at home.. but the consistency of gravy was missing.. i think the reason is we do not blend it.
