Matar, Paneer and Potato Fry

Today I bought the green peas after very long time. I like to eat fruits and vegetables when they are in season other time normally avoid them because at that time farmers use more pesticides. Anyway this matar, paneer and potato side dish I made first time and we all enjoyed eating it with hot plan paratha. You can even have it with hot chapati and puri. You can pack it for your kids lunch box I am sure they will love it. Try this different  and simple side dish and share your feed back with us.

Ingredients

Mesurement cup used 1 cup – 240 ml

Paneer – 200 g, cut into the cubes

Aloo / potato – 1, medium, cut into the cubes

Matar / green peas – ½ cup

Ginger – garlic (crushed or paste) – ½ tbsp

Turmeric – ½ tsp

Garam masala – 1 tsp

Kasuri methi – 1 tsp

Cumin / jeera – ½ tsp

Mustard – ½ tsp

Oil – 1 ½ – 2 tbsp

Salt – as per taste

To make course powder

Whole red chili – 4-5

Dry coriander seeds – 1 tbsp

Note – for more spicy add finely chopped green chilies

 Method

In a tava or kadai dry roast whole red chili and dry coriander seeds until they fragrant and change color.

Let them cool down compeletly and blend in course powder. Set aside.

Heat 1 tsp oil in kadai then add paneer cubes. Toss for few seconds and take them out and leave them hot water till we need them (hot water will keep paneer soft).

Pour some more oil or 1 ½ tbsp of oil. When oil is hot add cumin and mustard, allow them to crackle.

Add ginger and garlic, wait for 2-3 second (do not make them brown) then add potato and green peas.

Add salt and turmeric along with them. Mix well and cover it up with the lid. Cook until 3/4 done if needed sprinkle some water.

When the potato is 3/4 done then add course powder and garam masala. cook at simmer until potato gets cooked .

When the potato is cooked add paneer and kasuri methi, fry for a minute then turn off the flame. If you want add chopped coriander leaves.

Serve with hot chapati and paratha.

Toss it for few seconds then take it out and live it in hot water till we need them . Hot water will keep it soft.

Heat some more oil or butter

Add mustard and cumin, wati until they pop

Add turmeric and salt, mix well

Cover it up with the lid and cook until 3/4 done if needed sprinkle some water

After 3/4 done

Add course powder and garam masala

Cook until potato gets tender and cooked

Finally add paneer cubes and kasuri methi

Mix very well and side dish is ready
